Access

If there is no special reason, we recommend to use Tokyo-Haneda Airport for entering Japan. You can directly transit from Tokyo-Haneda Airport to Sendai Airport, or use Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo station to Sendai station. Sendai is in the Tohoku (northeastern) area of Japan, and a two-hour distance from the Tokyo area.

From Tokyo-Haneda Airport to central Sendai (recommended)

(1) From Haneda Airport, please first go to Tokyo station. There are mainly two ways.

(1-1) Take Tokyo Monorail from the airport to Hamamatsu-cho, and change to JR Yamanote Line or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line for Tokyo.

(1-2) Take Keikyu Airport Line from the airport to Shinagawa, and change to JR Yamanote Line or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line for Tokyo.

Both will take about 30-40 minutes in total. We note that most international airlines depart/arrive at Terminal 3 in Haneda Airport, but some may not. Please check which terminal to be used carefully.

(2) From Tokyo station, please go to Sendai station via Tohoku Shinkansen.

It will take about 90 minutes.

From Tokyo-Narita Airport to central Sendai

There are actually several routes for this case. We recommend the following route.

(1) From Narita Airport, please take Keisei Skyliner to Keisei-Ueno station.

It will take about 40-50 minutes.

(2) Please walk from Keisei-Ueno station to JR-Ueno station.

It will take about 5-10 minutes. There exists a crosswalk betwen Keisei-Ueno and JR-Ueno stations. Please be careful when it is raining.

(3) From JR-Ueno station, please go to Sendai station via Tohoku Shinkansen.

It will take about 85 minutes. We note that terminals in Narita Airport are separated mainly for the airline alliances. As for Terminal 3 in Narita Airport, which is used mainly by LCC, it takes about 20 minutes from Terminal 2 on foot.
